Daycare Daisy desires to offer the child a positive and strong environment for developing. We value quality childcare with daily routine mixed with a spontaneous and unhurried atmosphere giving the children a feeling of security.

We maintain that pre-school education, daycare and training go hand in hand. We are learning by doing, playing, researching and wondering life together. Children’s viewpoints can be seen in our operation. Our co-operation with parents is important to us because children can feel safe and good only when their parents are confident with the day-care.

Daycare Daisy is an international, English speaking day-care center. It means that all our operation happens in English. If child can´t speak English when he starts in day-care center, the learning of the language begins with play and activities. We demonstrate things with pictures and actions, name things a lot, read stories and use other children as translators. We gently support children to use English. It is advisable that child is three years old when he starts learning foreign language. In that age child´s native language skills are good enough. Our curriculum follows the regulations and law about day-care and preschool. We offer a free English preschool education provided by the city of Turku.

Our day

We are open from Monday to Friday 7:30-17:00. We are closed during Finnish national holidays and some extra days at Christmas time. We are also closed on July while our owner´s other day-care center Karusellimaa is on call.

Daycare Daisy tarjoaa lapsille kiireettömän, välittävän ja turvallisen kasvuympäristön. Opettelemme uusia asioita lapsilähtöisesti yhdessä tehden, touhuten, tutkien ja leikkien. Tuemme lasta hänen matkallaan pienestä päiväkotilaisesta koululaiseksi kodinomaisessa ympäristössä. Perheet ovat meille tärkeä yhteistyökumppani.

Daisy on kansainvälinen, monikultturinen englanninkielinen päiväkoti. Englantia aloittaessaan vielä osaamattomien lasten kanssa opettelemme kieltä leikin ja toiminnan kautta, ja tuemme lasten ymmärtämistä ja oppimista kuvin, esimerkein, nimeämällä ja muiden lasten apua käyttämällä. Vaikka henkilökuntamme puhuu lapsille englantia, ymmärrämme lasten äidinkielen mikäli mahdollista. Vieraskielisen päivähoidon aloittaville lapsille suositusikä on 3 vuotta. Silloin lasten oma äidinkieli on riittävän kehittynyt uuden kielen oppimiseen. Opetussuunnitelmamme noudattavat päivähoidosta ja esiopetuksesta annettuja lakeja ja asetuksia sekä valtakunnallisia - ja kunnan opetussuunnitelmia. Esiopetus on Turun kaupungin ostopalveluna tuottamaa ja siten ilmaista perheille.
