Starting out
When a child starts here with no English or Finnish language skills, we start by demonstrating with pictures and sounds and we read stories and sing songs. We gently encourage the children to use English/Finnish. Parents evenings, meetings with parents and daily meetings are our way to co-operate with parents.
It is important that the child can speak his/her own mother tongue before he/she starts learning a foreign language.
In August 2026, Daisy Varisuo will open with two groups of children: one Finnish-speaking group and one English-speaking group.
There is a lot of collaboration between the groups in our small daycare center. This allows children in both groups to become familiar with the other language in natural interaction situations.
At Daisy, we provide a safe and positive environment for learning. The quality of our early childhood education is built on warm and genuine encounters with each child, daily routines combined with the child’s interests, and an unhurried atmosphere.
Learning takes place through play and shared activities. We support children’s participation, actively explore our environment, and above all invest in language development at each child’s individual level by reading plenty of fairy tales, stories, and rhymes, as well as creating our own narratives.
Cooperation with parents is of utmost importance. Daisy’s client families come from different parts of the world, and together with families we aim to build a positive sense of each child’s individual identity. We value each child’s native language and culture while teaching Finnish culture in accordance with the national early childhood education curriculum, as well as Finnish or English depending on the group.

Curriculum
Our curriculum follows the regulations and laws of daycare and preschool.
Our day:We are open from Monday to Friday 7:00am to 5pm. We are closed during all Finnish national holidays and some extra days at Christmas time.
